The Health Museum – Heart Kiosk
The Health Museum in Houston is a vibrant, interactive learning center dedicated to making health sciences captivating and educational for visitors of all ages. With compelling exhibits, hands-on learning opportunities, and community-driven events, it cultivates curiosity and inspires future professionals.
Core Design Studio expanded the museum’s heart kiosk by enhancing both function and engagement. The new cabinetry not only protects the animatronic heart by serving as a distance barrier, but also integrates technology and interactive features to teach visitors about heart anatomy and physiology, common heart procedures, common heart medications, and diseases of the heart.
My role was to design the cabinetry and implement a program that could take existing biological models from BioDigital and integrate them into touchscreen interactives. We collaborated with the museum’s educators to narrow down and categorize topics that are both highly informative and approachable to the general public.
