South America’s Pantanal – Houston Zoo
The Pantanal is the world’s largest natural tropical wetland in South America, featuring a diverse array of ecosystems that coexist within this unique region. The distinctive facet of differing ecologies becomes the driving force behind The Houston Zoo’s Pantanal exhibit signage and interpretive materials.
CORE’s role was to design an identity and develop a series of interpretive signage to facilitate learning in a beautiful but meaningful way. These interpretive experiences also call out how visitors can help with the Zoo’s mission of saving, preserving, and protecting animals and their habitat.
Contributing to this project with the team at CORE at that time was an exceptional experience. It has helped me grow as a designer in a way that a concept rooted in research can beautifully mold a narrative that is purposeful, cohesive, and also delightful and vibrant that speaks not only of the ecosystems and habitats, but also the culture and heritage of the region.
